04.12 Songkran Festival at the Thai Residence to introduce traditional New Year celebrated in some Buddhist countries in Southeast Asia.

On 12 April 2012, Mme Aumaporn Futrakul, Ambassador’s spouse, held a Songkran Festival at the Ambassador’s Residence to promote Thai culture and its traditional new year.  Songkran’s history and celebration were introduced to the guests, where they enjoyed the taste of Thai traditional new year through a variety of activities such as Buddha images bathing, pouring water over the elder’s hands, building sand pagoda, and Thai traditional dance and music.
Mrs. Haruko Komura, ALFS President, ALFS members, and spouses of ambassadors to Tokyo attended the event.
