11.18 Consular Services at Wat Paknam, Chiba

On 18 November 2012, the Embassy arranged the annual consular services for the Thai community in Japan at Wat Paknam (Paknam Temple), Chiba prefecture. The consular team, led by Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Chargé d’affaires, hold its first consular services of the fiscal year 2013 at the facility of Wat Paknam at the sideline of the Royal Katina ceremony, graciously granted by HM the King of Thailand.

The consular services include passport issuance, legalization and household documents issuances as well as counseling for Thais experiencing with everyday life in Japan. The Thai Network in Japan (TNJ), a volunteer-based organization run by Thais, also set up a mobile counseling service for Thai residing in Japan, together with Tawan, a Thai volunteer group, which provided free medical check-up and consultation by Dr. Takashi Sawada, a Japanese physician and philanthropist.
