16/03/2016

On 16 March 2016, Mr. Shinju Yamaguchi, Mayor of Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture, together with Mr. Shinobu Kusami, Deputy Mayor, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag in order to get to know each other and discuss how to further promote Thailand-Kasama City relations. The Mayor explained that Kasama City is well known for its ceramics and has a good relationship with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation of Thailand. Recently, Mr. Kusami, Deputy Mayor of Kasama City, visited Thailand in February 2016 and signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for more cooperation with Thailand, such as exchanging potters. In addition, Japan will host the Olympic Games in 2020. According to the Mayor, Kasama City has a lot of international-level golf courses and they would like to invite not only golf players, but also other kinds of sport players from Thailand to train there. The Ambassador agreed and is pleased to cooperate on that issue as well as other issues, including culture; particularly since next year will be the 130th anniversary of Japan-Thailand diplomatic relations.
