On 23 March 2016, H.E. Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag presided over the opening ceremony of the Mega Event & Festivals Business Forum & Matching at the South Peacock Room, Imperial Hotel, Tokyo. This event was organized by the Meeting Industry Department, Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB and it aimed to provide information about Thai MICE’s competitiveness, readiness and comprehensive service in the MICE market to host international MICE events, with emphasis on Thai arts, culture, creativeness and lifestyle, including sports and tourism.
The Ambassador talked about Japan-Thailand relations, which covered every aspect of ties; particularly economics and economic government policies. Thailand plans to upgrade MICE capabilities by improving Digital and Creative Economy development and persuade Japanese entrepreneurs to host MICE in Thailand. In addition, Ms. Supawan Teerarat, Vice President, Strategic and Business Development, gave information about the benefits to the Japanese private sector who are interested in hosting MICE in Thailand under the J-Plan for Thailand program. More than 10 “Digital Content” entrepreneurs participated in this event and they also had a business matching with Japanese customers.
This event was supported by the Japanese government and Mr. Shigeru Furuichi, Deputy Director of the Creative Economy Department, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) gave an opening speech. Moreover, Mr. Sanae Ichii, Secretariat of the Visual Industry Promotion Organization (VIPO) gave a briefing on supporting the Japanese private sector to hold “Content” exhibitions abroad.
