On 22 September 2016, H.E. General Thanasak Patimaprakorn, Deputy PM and H.E. Ms. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Minister of Tourism and Sports presided over the opening ceremony of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) Tourism Expo 2016 together with Mr. Hiromi Takawa, Chairman of JATA and H.E. Mr. Keiichi Ishii, Minster of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan at the Ballesalle Tokyo Nihonbashi Building. More than 40 countries participated in the event, including representatives from government and also the private sector. H.E. Mr. Bansarn Bunnag, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan also participated in the event.
On 23 September 2016, Deputy PM and delegation, along with H.E. Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag attended the opening ceremony at the booth of the Tourism Authority of Thailand at Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo. The theme was centered on “Unique Thai Local Experience and Women’s Journeys in Thailand." Thai cultural performances and handicrafts, including the Arts of the Kingdom were displayed in this event. The Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) Tourism Expo 2016 is Asia’s largest, Japan inbound and outbound tourism promotion, which is usually held annually and this year marks the 26th time it has been held. 140 countries participated in this event and there were more than 1,000 booths.
