The award-giving ceremony of the Logo Competition on the occasion of the 130th Anniversary of Thailand-Japan Diplomatic Relations

07/02/2017

On 7 February 2017, the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan held the award-giving ceremony of the Logo Competition on the occasion of the 130th Anniversary of Thailand-Japan Diplomatic Relations at the hall of the Royal Thai Embassy. H.E. Mr. Bansarn Bunnag, the Ambassador of Thailand to Japan along with Mr. Kazuya Nashida, Director-General, the Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan presided over and gave opening remarks at the event.
From 110 entries, both Thai and Japanese Ministries of Foreign Affairs have selected the logo designed by Mr. Masahiro Takahashi, as winner. The winner received 2 return air tickets from Tokyo to Bangkok from the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo in collaboration with Thai Airways International.
The winning design is a perfect combination of the unique symbols of Thailand and Japan, namely elephant on Thai tri-colour flag background and a Sakura flower on Japanese “circle of the sun”. The outline shape of the logo also resembles the symbol of infinity (∞), which represents the seemingly endless friendship between Thailand and Japan.
