On 14 April 2017, Mr. Thanee Thongbhakdhi, Vice Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended a seminar about “The Challenge of Sustainable Cities: Building inclusive urban infrastructure to withstand disaster risks” at the 1st International Economic Forum on Asia held in Tokyo, Japan. The invitation was extended by the OECD Development Center (DEV).
On this occasion, the Vice Permanent-Secretary talked about Thailand’s experience and also the commendable actions taken by Thailand, including the late King Bhumibol’s initiative to protect against and be prepared for disasters.
This forum was organized through the cooperation of the DEV Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). More than 200 attendees, including high ranking, Japanese government officials and other politicians, participated in the forum.
