On 29 March 2018, the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB organized an event for promoting the international market in the areas of conventions and exhibitions 2018 at the Tokyo Prince Hotel, Tokyo. In this event, there was business matching, including a seminar for providing information about the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) industry by experienced Japanese professionals.
On this occasion, H.E. Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag gave opening remarks and answered questions during the press conference, which was held in the afternoon on the same day. The Ambassador stated that this year, Thailand's emphasis is on MICE regarding the target industry group under the Thailand 4.0 policy. At the same time, promoting the country by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) under the “Open to the New Shades” campaign, which will be used to present the new perspectives of Thailand, which helps to increase the number of inbound tourists. In addition, Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President of the TCEB, added that the TCEB would release the “Thailand Extra Exhibition and Convene in Paradise Campaigns in 2018” to provide benefits to the foreigners who hold international conferences or exhibitions in Thailand.
In the evening, the Ambassador was the representative of Thailand to give remarks to welcome entrepreneurs from Thailand and Japan at the reception party held by the TCEB.
MICE in Thailand has expanded continuously and Japan was the prior market of Thailand. In the year 2016 – 2017, the number of MICE Japanese tourists increased by 5.43 percent. On the other hand, the TCEB anticipates that this year the MICE market from Japan will increase by approximately 5 percent, which will earn Thailand around 1.6 ten billion yen.
