The Ambassador acted as a witness during the ceremony of Nakasone Yasuhiro Award

On 6 July 2018, H.E. Mr. Bansarn Bunnag, the Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, acted as a witness during the ceremony of Nakasone Yasuhiro Award which was held for the 14th time by Nakasone Yasuhiro Peace Institute at The Capitol Hotel Tokyo, with Yasuhiro Nakasone, the former Prime Minister of Japan, presiding over the ceremony.
In this event, there were 3 award recipients including Assoc. Prof. Anawat Suppasri of International Research Institute of Disaster Science, Tohoku University, who received award in the field of “Enhancing peace and security in the international community”. The Nakasone Yasuhiro Award is held annually to honor those who greatly contributed to the promotion of peace and international development in the fields of politics, economics, culture, science, and technology, which Assoc. Prof. Anawat is the first Thai who receive the award.
Assoc. Prof. Anawat is a part of Thai Network in Japan (TNJ), in addition to assisting the Embassy by giving information to Thai people in Japan about the disaster preparation and management in many occasions, as well as cooperating with various embassies.He also provided information for those who visited the areas in Tohoku Region that were affected by the tsunami in 2011 and published internationally regarded articles about tsunami, as well as support the activities of UN agencies in many countries to raise awareness of the threats that tsunami poses and the countermeasures against them.
