The 1st Thai Festival in Fukuoka

On 29 September 2018, Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag presided over and gave an opening remarks for the 1st Thai Festival in Fukuoka together with Mr. Hiroshi Ogawa, Governor of Fukuoka and Mr. Jungo Inoue, Chairman of Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly at the Hakata station area. The Ambassador expressed that the 1st Thai Festival in Fukuoka was organized to be celebrated the opening of the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General in Fukuoka which will be opened from 1st October 2018.
Fukuoka is one of the strong local area in several fields such as economy, investment, tourism and culture. Fukuoka has a long cordial relationship with Thailand and both have made international sister city agreement since 2006. In addition, both sides have established the Thailand – Fukuoka Friendship Association in 2007.
The Royal Thai Embassy set up the “Thailand 4.0 – The future is here.” to promote government policy regarding future development projects in the country. The Office of Agricultural Affairs organized activities to promote quality of Thai agricultural products while the Tokyo office of Tourism Authority of Thailand coordinated activities promoting tourism in northern Thailand. There were 18 booths of Thai restaurant and shops joining this event. The performances on the stage were Thai boxing demonstration and Thai traditional dance from the Thailand Foundation that entertained and impressed the participants.
