The 13th Thai Speech Contest

The Royal Thai Embassy and the Kanda University of International Studies held the 13th Thai Speech Contest at the Millenium Hall, Kanda University of International Studies. Mr. Atsushi Kasuga, Head of Southeast Asia Languages Department and Mrs. Salinee Phonprapai, Minister Counsellor of the Royal Thai Embassy presided over and gave an opening remarks.
Nineteen bachelor degree students of Thai Major from 5 universities took part in the contest namely Utsunomiya University, Osaka University, Keio University, Ritsumeikan University and Kanda University of International Studies. Mr. Miyauchi Takahisa, President of Kanda University of International Studies gave the closing remarks.
Every contestant had delivered the speech under the title of “My Pride” and answered a question in Thai. The selection panel was comprised of representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy, Tourism Authority of Thailand in Tokyo and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
The outstanding prize for this year contest belonged to Ms. Wonzon Park, the 4th year student from Osaka University and Ms. Noriko Arima, the 3rd year student from Kanda University of International Studies, who received a round trip air ticket Tokyo-Bangkok, sponsored by Thai Airways International Co., Ltd and the Royal Thai Embassy. Other winners received a certificate, cash reward and books on Thailand supported by the Japan-Thailand Association, Ajinomoto, Japan Thailand Business Forum and NGO Khobkhunmak. Thai traditional dance and music were also performed at the event.
