The Ambassador paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Akita

On 30 August 2019, Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag and his spouse together with Team Thailand paid a courtesy call Mr. Norihisa Satake, Governor of Akita to express his gratitude to Akita that provides cooperation with Thailand in several fields; particularly, 1. Misato city is the training center for Thailand national badminton team for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games 2020. 2) Oodate city has signed the agreement with the Cerebral Palsy Sports Association of Thailand for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. 3) Semboku city is the training center for Thai national boccia and wheelchair team. The Governor stated that Thailand is the country that Akita has the closet cooperation in sports.
In addition, Thailand and Akita have the cooperation in trade and tourism. Recently, Akita beef was exported to famous Thai restaurants; in the meantime, the outbound and inbound tourist of Thailand and Akita tend to increase because Akita prefecture has a lot of tourist attractions such as beautiful nature and scenery, traditional festivals like Kanto festival (Lamp) and Omagari (Firework), as well as famous Akita Dog, while Akita people like Thai food, culture and hospitality.
By the way, Thai Airways International Co., Ltd. will operate the Bangkok – Sendai direct flight , 3 times a week from 29 October 2019 which facilitate the tourists to travel from the northeastern region (including Akita) to travel to Thailand more convenient.
