Ambassador was bestowed a decoration from His Majesty the Emperor of Japan

On 17 October 2019, Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag was bestowed a Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun from His Majesty the Emperor of Japan through H.E. Mr. Toshimitsu Motegi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The decoration represents Ambassador’s dedication and achievement in further promoting the amicable relations between Japan and Thailand through his almost 4 years of tenure.

During his term as Ambassador, a number of important events took place, including a commemorative event on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of Japan and Thailand Diplomatic Relations in 2017, as well as the celebration of the start of the new era for both Japan and Thailand in 2019 when His Majesty Emperor Naruhito and His Majesty King Rama X ascended the thrones. Moreover, Ambassador Bansarn also serves as Chairman of the Executive Committee of “Japan through Diplomats’ Eyes” Photo Exhibition which is the project under the patronage of Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado, and serves to promote close friendship between Japan and other nations beyond the bilateral relations between Japan and Thailand.
