Japanese Minister of Reconstruction met with the Ambassador

On 28 November 2019, H.E. Mr. Kazunori Tanaka, Minister of Reconstruction met with Ambassador Singtong at the Royal Thai Embassy.
Since March 11, 2011 has been 8 years and 8 months after the Fukushima prefecture suffered from tsunami and radioactive material leaks from nuclear power plants. Minister Tanaka was grateful to the Thai government for helping to restore the Fukushima prefecture. In 2019, there were 1,130,000 tourists from Thailand to Japan. In addition, Japan will host the Tokyo Olympic 2020, so he would like to encourage Thai people to visit the northeastern part of Japan (Tohoku area); especially Fukushima prefecture, which has tried to reconstruct, which is famous for agriculture and fisheries and would like to raise awareness the safety of the agriculture product from Fukushima. Recently, many countries have removed the restrictions on the imported agricultural and fishery products from Fukushima prefecture. The Ambassador mentioned that during the disaster at Fukushima, he was at the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo. At that time, Thai people were very worried about Japan. Therefore, A lot of people donated money and equipment through the Royal Thai Embassy. When Thailand suffered flooding in the same year, Japan received a lot of help from the government and Japanese people as well. It is considered that the two countries are true friends to each other. Thailand has always supported the economic revitalization of Fukushima prefecture, such as importing the Hirame fish and the Brown Sole fish (Magarei); including the opening of the Amazon Cafe in Fukushima. Moreover, on 29 October 2019, Thai Airways International Public Co; Ltd. has operated direct flight to Bangkok - Sendai, which is another way to strengthen the bilateral relations.
