Commanding Officer, Escort Flotilla 3, Maritime Self-Defense Force visited the Embassy

On 28 January 2020, Ambassador Singtong Lapisatepun assigned Mr. Romdej Phisalaphong, Minister-Counsellor and Captain Ekachai Sukwanno, Naval Attaché to be the representative to welcome Rear Admiral ISHIMAKI Yoshiyasu, Commanding Officer, Escort Flotilla 3, Maritime Self-Defense Force. Rear Admiral ISHIMAKI will assume the command of the Combined Task Force 151 or CTF151 (anti-piracy operations off the coast of Somalia and the Gulf of Aden) later this February and a Thai Naval officer will be dispatched to the CTF151 Headquarters located in Bahrain.  


Rear Admiral ISHIMAKI stated that the international cooperation was essential in the field of anti-piracy measures, stressing the importance of the international collaboration, including Thailand and Japan, in contributing to peace and stability in the region. So far, the Royal Thai Navy has also dispatched a Commander to the CTF151 in 2012 and 2014.
