Trophy Ceremony of the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament 2020

On 27 September 2020, Ambassador Singtong Lapisatepun attended the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament 2020 at the Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan and presented the Thailand-Japan Friendship Trophy to Sumo wrestler Shodai, the winner of the Grand Sumo Tournament in Tokyo. Shodai is the first Sumo wrestler from Kumamoto prefecture who win the highest division of Grand Sumo Tournament.
Thailand started to present Thailand-Japan Friendship Trophy to the winner of Grand Sumo Tournaments held in Tokyo from 2017 when Thailand and Japan celebrated the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Besides Thailand, there were ambassadors and representatives from other 8 countries, including Hungary, Mongolia, Bulgaria, and China, presenting certificates and trophies to the winner
