On 23 October 2020, Ambassador Singtong Lapisatepun, presided over the wreath-laying and religious ceremony on the occasion of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Day at Nittaiji Temple, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. Consul-General of Thailand to Osaka, Consul-General of Thailand to Fukuoka, Honorary Consul-General of Thailand in Nagoya as well as officials of the Team Thailand also participated in the ceremony.
The Nittaiji Temple is one of the symbols of Japan-Thailand long friendship. It was established in 1904 to enshrine the holy Buddha relics which were granted to Japan by King Chulalongkorn. In 1987 in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan, the statue of King Chulalongkorn was built in front of the Dhamma Hall within the Temple in remembrance of His Majesty’s contributions.
