Ambassador Singtong participates in the opening of the Thai Festival Saga 2020.

On 24 October 2020 Ambassador Singtong Lapisatepun participated in the opening of the Thai Festival in Saga 2020, which is held on 24-25 October 2020 at Kokorozashi-no-Mori Park.
The Thai Festival in Saga was held annually for three consecutive years. At the opening ceremony, Ambassador Singtong expressed his appreciation to Mr. YAMAGUCHI Yoshinori, Governor of Saga Prefecture, for his continued support to organise the Thai Festival in Saga and promote close and friendly cooperation with Thailand, despite the COVID-19 situation this year. Governor YAMAGUCHI also complemented Thailand's successful efforts in containing the spread of COVID-19 situation.
Ambassador Singtong reiterated that Thailand welcomes Japanese tourists to Thailand. Now, with certain prevention measures, Japanese tourists can travel to Thailand. After Thailand was able to contain the COVID-19 situation, the Royal Thai Embassy has facilitated about 4,000 Japanese to enter to Thailand.
The Thai Festival in Saga once again helps raise awareness on Thailand for the people of Saga in all dimensions, be they Thai food, tourism, and Thai cultures. Mr. Attakarn Wongchanamas, Consul-General of Thailand to Fukuoka, and his team, also opens a mobile consular booth to provide consular services for the Thai people residing in Saga and its surrounding prefectures.
A number of Japanese people attended the Festival with keen interest to learn more about Thailand. It was also attended by Thai people living in Saga. In compliance with the COVID-19 prevention measures, the Festival limits the number of participants to 5,000 people a day, giving priority to those with advanced registration. In a normal circumstance, the Festival was attended by 30,000 visitors over the course of two days.
