23/10/2020
On 23 October 2020 Mr. YAMAGUCHI Yoshinori, Governor of Saga Prefecture, hosted a dinner in honour of Ambassador Singtong Lapisatepun and spouse, on the occasion of his visit to Saga Prefecture during 23-25 October 2020 at the Governor’s invitation.
The dinner was also attended by Mr. Attakarn Wongchanamas, Consul-General of Thailand in Fukuoka, and the delegation from the Royal Thai Embassy and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Fukuoka.
Ambassador Singtong thanked the Governor for the warm hospitality and was happy to visit Saga once again after his first time during his high school in Japan. He was pleased to learn that during Governor YAMAGUCHI’s 6 years of administration, the number of Thai tourists to Saga increased dramatically from 370 to 10,000 persons. He also looked forward to working more closely with Saga Prefecture to further promote tourism between Thailand and Saga.
Ambassador Singtong also expressed his appreciation to Governor Yamaguchi for the latter’s continuous support for organising the Thai Festival in Saga, despite the COVID-19 situation in Japan. He strongly hoped that after the COVID-19 situation is well under control, the exchanges between the two sides will become even stronger.
The people-to-people contacts between Thailand and Saga has picked up impressively. Apart from tourism, the Thai Festival Saga has been organised annually by Saga Prefecture for three consecutive years. Saga prefecture is also a host town for Thai rowing and archery athletes who will be competing in Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics in 2021.
