On 26 November 2020, Mr. NAGAISHI Yasuaki, Managing Director and Secretary General of the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement (OISCA), paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Singtong Lapisatepun, and informed the Ambassador on OISCA’s development activities in Thailand.
OISCA started its development activities in Thailand in 1975. One of its main projects was reforestation in Surin Province in the Northeastern part of Thailand. In order to show gratitude to OISCA and Japan’s efforts, Surin Province presented Ueno Zoo with two elephants, “Athit” and “Uthai”, in 2002 as a symbol of friendship between Thailand and Japan, so as to celebrate the birth of Her Royal Highness Princess Aiko as well as to mark the 20th Anniversary of OISCA’s project in Surin Province.
OISCA is currently conducting various activities in Thailand, including mangrove reforestation in Ranong Province in the South of Thailand and organic farming throughout the country.
