Trophy presentation Ceremony of the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament 2021

On 24 January 2021, Ambassador Singtong Lapisatepun attended the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament 2021 at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan and presented the Thailand-Japan Friendship Trophy to Sumo Champion Daieisho, the first Sumo wrestler from Saitama prefecture who ever won the highest division of Grand Sumo Tournament.
The presentation of the Thailand-Japan Friendship Trophy to the winner of Grand Sumo Tournaments held in Tokyo started in 2017 when Thailand and Japan celebrated their 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Besides Thailand, Ambassadors and representatives from other 8 countries also attended the Tournament to present certificates and trophies to the Champion, namely Bulgaria, the Czech Republic,France, Hungary, Mexico, Mongolia, and the United Arab Emirates.
