Regulations on entering Thailand for non-Thai nationals from 1 May 2022 onwards


Registration system “Thailand Pass” 



 ■ Important Notice (as of April 25, 2022) 

1. Travelers who wish to enter Thailand must register for Thailand Pass at https://tp.consular.go.th at least 7 days in advance of the departure date. Thailand Pass QR Code would be issued to the applicant after approval. Travelers need to present this Thailand Pass QR Code to airlines upon check-in and to the Thai immigration officials. From 1 February 2022 onwards, travelers from all countries are allowed to enter Thailand.

2. From 1 May 2022 onwards, due to new entry measures, travelers entering Thailand will be categorized into 2 groups:

(1) Fully Vaccinated Persons

(2) Unvaccinated/Not Fully Vaccinated Persons

Please note that the Test & Go and Sandbox schemes are no longer applied.

3. If you are fully vaccinated, please upload the Vaccination Certificate of COVID-19 of 1stand 2nddose (or one dose in case you received Johnson& Johnson) which should contain your personal information (full name, date of birth, nationality, passport number and details of each vaccination). For those who have received the vaccine in Japan, please acquire the Vaccination Certificate of COVID-19 in hard copy from the ward office in your area of ​​residence. The detailed information regarding the Vaccination Certificate of COVID-19 in Japan is available on the website of the Ministry of Public Health. Labor and Welfare of Japan at https://www.mhlw.go.jp/stf/covid-19/certificate.html.

***In case of urgent need to travel to Thailand, Japanese and Non-Japanese travelers with residency in Japan are able to use the Vaccination Certificate of COVID-19 in electronic version from the application 新型コロナワクチン接種証明書アプリ by taking a screenshot on their mobile phone. The screenshot must cover all details of full name, date of birth, nationality, passport number and details of vaccinations (all details in 1 page). Please upload the screenshot to the Thailand Pass system in the box "Vaccination Certificate", and please upload the QR Code received from the application by checking the box "Add QR Code on vaccination certificate to get faster results".


5. Schemes for travelers entering Thailand (for all nationalities)

5.1 Travelers who are fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to departure are eligible to travel to Thailand without quarantine,andno longer required to takethe COVID-19 test both prior to and after arriving in Thailand, *unless it is required by the airline*

(1) Traveler’s passport

(2) Traveler’s Vaccination Certificate of COVID-19

(3) Medical insurance with a minimum coverage of 10,000 USD (expats residing in Thailand can use a social security card or certifying letter issued by the employer)*Thai nationals are not required to submit the insurance*

5.2 Travelers who are unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated are able to choose between 2 options to enter Thailand

5.2.1 Option 1 – Exemption from quarantine Travelers with a negative RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours before travelling must submit the following documents on the Thailand Pass system

(1) Traveler’s passport

(2) A Negative RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours before travelling (the traveler must submit the test result on the Thailand Pass system before travelling) *The RT-PCR test must be written in English with a letter head and a doctor’s signature*

(3) Medical insurance with a minimum coverage of 10,000 USD (expats residing in Thailand can use a social security card or certifying letter issued by the employer)*Thai nationals are not required to submit the insurance*

5.2.2 Option 2 – Quarantine for 5 days Travelers who cannot underdo an RT-PCR test result within 72 hours before traveling or wish to be quarantined must submit the following documents on the Thailand Pass system

(1) Traveler's Passport

(2) Fully Paid Hotel Confirmations of Alternative Quarantine (AQ) hotel for 5 days (including airport transfer and 1 time RT-PCR test on Day 4-5 in Thailand)

(3) Medical insurance with a minimum coverage of 10,000 USD (expats residing in Thailand can use a social security card or certifying letter issued by the employer) *Thai nationals are not required to submit the insurance*

** If the airline requires the COVID-19 test result, travelers need to follow the airline rules**


Regulations for travelers under the age of 18 who would like to enter Thailand 

**Children between the age of 6to 11are not required to get vaccinated. However, the children need to travel with their parents or guardians.

**Children between the age of 12 - 17 are required to get vaccinated at least 1 dose to be eligible to travel alone. If the children are unvaccinated, they need to travel with their parents or guardians.

**All age group may travel alone (unaccompanied) if fully vaccinated.

**Unvaccinated / not fully vaccinated travelers who wish to be exempted from quarantine must attach a negative RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours before travel in the Thailand Pass system, including unvaccinated / not fully vaccinated children aged 6 - 17 who travel with unvaccinated / not fully vaccinated parents (children aged under 6 do not have to attach the test result). Please be advised that this does not apply to children aged under 18 who travel with fully vaccinated parents who will be automatically granted the same entry scheme as their parents'.

12 - 17 are required to get vaccinated at least 1 dose to be eligible to travel alone. If the children are unvaccinated, they need to travel with their parents or guardians.

Regulations for travelers who have previously been infected with Covid-19 and would like to enter Thailand

**Travelers who had been infected with COVID-19 at least 14 days before the date of travelling, and fully recovered, will be able to travel to Thailand.

**Travelers, who had been infected with COVID-19 within 3 months before travelling, should prepare a COVID-19 recovery form certifying of the full recovery from COVID-19, to show to the Thai health quarantine officer in case a RT-PCR test upon arrival is positive.

**Travelers who had been infected with COVID-19 for more than 3 months before entering Thailand and received at least one dose of vaccination at any time after being infected with COVID-19 are considered fully vaccinated.

**Travelers who were fully vaccinated prior to COVID-19 infection are considered as fully vaccinated.
