New Requirement documents For non Immigrant B VISA

The Royal Thai Embassy Tokyo announces that the required documents for non-immigrant B will amend and be effective from 1st February 2015.

Before you apply for visa at the Royal Thai Embassy, Tokyo, please be informed that:
Non-immigrant-B (Working)

  • the Embassy may require additional documents and reserves the right to reject incomplete visa application.
  • the issuance of visa is under the discretion of the Embassy. The Embassy refuses to explain reason for visa rejection.
  • non-Japanese applicant holding passports of 1. Afghanistan 2. Bangladesh 3. Egypt 4. Iran 5. North Korea 6. Libya 7. Nigeria 8. Palestine
    9. Sudan 10. Yemen 11. Cameroon 12. Congo 13. Republic of Congo 14. Equatorial Guinea 15. Guinea 16. Algeria 17. China 18. India 19. Iraq 20. Lebanon 21. Nepal 22. Pakistan 23. Sril Lanka 24. Syria 25. Ghana 26. Central African Republic 27. Somalia28. Sao Tome and Principe 29. Liberia 30. Sierra Leone (latest updated:2015.10.05) cannot apply for any category of visa at the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo, unless the applicant acquires permanent resident / mid-to long-term / specific visa to legally reside in Japan.
  • foreigners residing in Japan on specific visa such as permanent resident, long term resident, spouse or child of Japanese citizen, or student, are required to submit additional documents for each category of visa. Please click visa category below for further information.
  • the applicant is strongly advised to apply for visa ahead of time of departure.
  • visa issuance process generally takes one (1) day and the applicant may collect visa on the next working day, unless the applicant is informed by the Embassy of the specific date for visa collection.
  • the embassy may require an interview, please plan your trip with sufficient time for visa processing.
  • fraud or misrepresentation can result in permanent visa ineligibility.
  • visa fee is non-refundable.
  • all documents required, except company’s registration issued by the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand and certificate of marriage, must be issued  within three(3) months on the date of visa application.

Non-immigrant-B (Working)

  • Applicant must apply in person.
  • The stay for single entry Non-immigrant B visa is for ninety (90) days or less. The applicant may apply for work permit at the Ministry of Labor of Thailand and the extension of stay at the Immigration Bureau of Thailand.
  • Only single entry Non-immigrant B visa will be issued to the applicant
  • Fee for Non-immigrant (B) visa: single entry 9,000 Yen
  • Non-Japanese applicant holding passports of Bangladesh, Egypt , Iran, Nigeria ,Palestine , Sudan , Yemen,Cameroon ,Congo ,Republic of Congo ,Equatorial Guinea ,Guinea ,Algeria , China ,India ,Lebanon ,Nepal ,Pakistan ,Sri Lanka , Ghana ,Central African Republic ,Somalia,Sao Tome and Principe, Liberia ,Sierra Leone (latest updated:2015.10.05)cannot request for passport(s) to be returned by mail. The visa's issuance will take up to 10 working days.
  • Visa and administrative processes for applicant holding passport of North Korea, Libya, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan generally takes thirty (30) days.

Documents required are as follow:

  1. Valid passport.
  2. Application form duly filled in and signed by the applicant.


    • Form available on this page can be filled out.
    • Please enter the information requested into the appropriate spaces on the form. Your answer must be in English and use English capital characters.
    • The Embassy recommends you use an ink-jet printer to print the completed application form. However, the written application form is accepted but it may cause delay during the visa application process at the counter.
  3. Two (2) color photos of applicant (size 3.5 x 4.5 cm.)

    Except:

    **Three (3) color photos and three (3) copies of application forms duly filled and signed for applicants holding passports of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, North Korea, Libya, Palestine, Sudan , Yemen, Cameroon , Congo, Republic of Congo , Equatorial Guinea , Guinea ,Algeria, China , India ,Iraq ,Lebanon ,Nepal , Pakistan ,Sri Lanka ,Syria , Ghana , Central African Republic ,Somalia,Sao Tome and Principe ,Liberia ,Sierra Leone

    **Four (4) color photos and four (4) copies of application forms duly filled and signed for applicants holding passport of Iran, Nigeria

  4. An original letter of invitation from prospective employer in Thailand.
    PDF, copy or fax is not accepted.

    **The letter must be in the company’s letter head and contain the applicant’s name, assignment’s position / responsibilities / salary / date of entry / length of stay and type of visa required, and signed by the authorized person(s) whose name(s) listed in the company’s registration issued by the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand.

    **In the absence of signature of authorized person(s) in the letter of invitation, a letter of power of attorney authorizing other person(s) to act on his/her behalf must be submitted upon visa application.

  5. Personal history duly filled in and signed by the applicant.

  6. The Embassy may require documents in foreign language to be translated into Thai or English.
    Such documents must also be certified by competent authority of Japan or country where the documents are issued.
  7. For non-Japanese applicant, please prepare the documents follow;
    For non-Japanese applicant, a copy of resident card or certificate of alien registration which is valied at least 3 months or more.

    For those who are currently applying for renewal of residence card, please submit a copy of acceptance of renewal issued by Immigration Bureau of Japan. The applicant is also required to present the original documents of identification upon visa application.

  8. Airline ticket or confirmation slip with applicant’s name, flight number as well as date of entry and departure.
  9. The letter of consideration of` Work Permit “Form WP 3”, issued by the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare of Thailand, must be presented to the Embassy for non-Japanese applicant who wishes to perform works in the Kingdom.

Non-immigrant-B (Business)

  • Applicant must apply in person.
  • The purpose of visit is for business such as meeting with business associates, attending professional or business conventions/conferences and, for performing services in a pre-arranged professional job.
  • Fee for Non-immigrant (B) visa: single entry 9,000 Yen and multiple entry 22,000 Yen.
  • Non-Japanese applicant holding passports of Bangladesh, Egypt , Iran, Nigeria ,Palestine , Sudan , Yemen,Cameroon ,Congo ,Republic of Congo ,Equatorial Guinea ,Guinea ,Algeria , China ,India ,Lebanon ,Nepal ,Pakistan ,Sri Lanka , Ghana ,Central African Republic ,Somalia,Sao Tome and Principe, Liberia ,Sierra Leone (latest updated:2015.10.05)cannot request for passport(s) to be returned by mail. The visa's issuance will take up to 10 working days.

  5. A copy of company’s registration documents issued within six (6) months by the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand.
  6. An original letter of recommendation from the current employer / company in Japan.

    **The letter must be in the company’s letter head and contain the applicant’s name, purpose of visit to the Kingdom, date of entry, length of stay, type of visa required and signed by the authorized person

    **In the absence of letter of recommendation from the current employer / company in Japan, an original guarantee letter must be presented together with a copy of guarantor’s passport or driving license duly signed by the guarantor.

    **A guarantor must be twenty (20) years of age or older, legally residing in Japan, must be able to confirm aspects of applicant’s personal attributes such as name, age, physical description and some personal information and must be available to be contacted by the Embassy.



  7. For non-Japanese applicant, please prepare the documents follow;
    For non-Japanese applicant, a copy of resident card or certificate of alien registration which is valid at least 3 months or more.     **For the applicant holding passport of Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Nepal, North Korea, Pakistan, Palestinian State, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria and Yemen, an original company’s registration (tokibotohon) must be submitted together with an original letter of recommendation upon visa application.

  8. Airline ticket or confirmation slip with applicant’s name, flight number as well as date of entry and departure.
