... 2021, Mr. Nawamin Deenoi and Mr. Siwakorn Wongpin, Rowing athletes from Thailand in the Lightweight Men's Double Sculls category, received origami cranes, which were finely arranged in the shape of Thai flag and specially crafted by the students in Saga Prefecture for the Thai national team.
Both rowing athletes expressed their sincere appreciation for the students in Saga and Saga Prefecture for the origami cranes and for sending them heartfelt supporting message in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

On 31 October 2013, Ambassador Thanatip Upatising and his spouse hosted a luncheon for Mr. Yasushi Furukawa, Saga Prefecture Mayor, and his spouse. Mr. Kazushika Iwata, a Saga member of parliament, also joined. Both sides discussed about strengthening Thailand and Saga Prefecture’s relations, especially education and tourism exchange.

さらに大使は、コロナ禍でも佐賀県が継続してタイフェスティバルの開催に尽力していることに感謝の意を表し、新型コロナウイルスの感染状況が収束した折には、これまで以上に交流が活発になることを願っていると述べました。
佐賀県はタイとの国民同士の関係が緊密で、観光交流以外に、今年で3回目となる「タイフェスティバル in SAGA」を開催しています。また、2021年のオリンピック・パラリンピックではアーチェリーとボート競技でタイのホストタウンになっています。
