On 27 February 2023, H.E. Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, and Mrs. Porndee Lapisatepun, his spouse, hosted a luncheon in honor of Mr. Yamaguchi Yoshinori, the Governor of Saga prefecture, and his spouse. On this occasion, both sides discussed Thailand-Saga cooperation including the Thai Festival in Saga and the role of Saga as a filming location for Thai movies and dramas.

Saga Prefecture and Thailand have enjoyed cordial relations and close cooperation in various areas, including cooperation under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Prefecture and the Fine Arts Department of Thailand. The Prefecture has also been a popular shooting location for numerous Thai films and dramas. This year, the Thai Festival in Saga is scheduled to be held on 17-18 October 2025.
