2013年2月5－12日に行なわれた「第64回さっぽろ雪まつり」開催に際して、タイ王国は今年の大雪像のテーマ国として選ばれました。ＨＢＣ北海道放送の協力を得て、壮麗なる大雪像『ワット・ベンチャマボピット（大理石寺院）』が高さ15ｍ奥行き21ｍ横幅28ｍのスケールで製作され、大通りの「HBCタイ王国広場」に設置されました。開催期間中はタイ国政府観光庁（TAT）や関係機関が、タイマッサージをはじめ、一村一品（OTOP）商品の販売、タイ舞踊、タイ文化紹介などの様々な活動や、メディア媒体を通した広報によって、日本人だけではなく、海外の人たちに向けて全面的にタイのプロモーションを行いました。
大雪像を製作した日本の陸上自衛隊からの引渡式には、タナティップ・ウパティシン駐日タイ大使夫妻、タイ国政府観光庁（TAT）総裁、タイ国際航空（TG）社長が出席しました。続いて、北海道の高橋はるみ知事が出席した「さっぽろ雪まつり開会式」及び、200人以上の日本人来賓客が出席した京王プラザホテル札幌にて行なわれた「Amazing ...
