The NihongoPartners project is aimed at providing assistance to local Japanese language teachers in teaching Japanese language by Japanese volunteers in 10 ASEAN countries, China and Taiwan. Since 2014, there have been more than 3,000 Japanese volunteers participated in this project. The 10th batch of 48 NihongoPartners was dispatched to Thailand from May 2022 to February 2023. The two representatives from the said batch reported their experiences in Thailand to the Thai Ambassador.

On 19 March 2019, Mr. Masato Furuya, the Director of Asia Center, The Japan Foundation, led 6 volunteers who had served as Japanese language teachers in junior high schools to pay a courtesy call on Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag. The NihongoPartners Project was organized by The Japan Foundation since 2014 and has sent volunteers to perform duties in various countries approximately 1,800 people at the end of 2018.
