On 31 October 2013, Ambassador Thanatip Upatising and his spouse hosted a luncheon for Mr. Yasushi Furukawa, Saga Prefecture Mayor, and his spouse.  Mr. Kazushika Iwata, a Saga member of parliament, also joined.  Both sides discussed about strengthening Thailand and Saga Prefecture’s relations, especially education and tourism exchange.
